If you are an LBC member then sign-in on the LBC sign-in sheet, do not sign in on the BCC sign-in sheet unless you are also a BCC member and visa-versa. Only participate in the LBC Mad Dog statistics finishing sheets if you are an LBC member.

This is a joint ride between the LBC and the BCC (Bluegrass Cycling Club). Keep in mind that different clubs have different rules of etiquette. Many of the BCC riders that regularly ride together have a practice of using a rotating pace line. Google 'rotating pace line' if anyone is not clear about this technique.

If you join up with a group of riders that you don't regularly ride with it is considered proper to ask the group if it is OK to join them. If they are in a paceline it is your responsibility to ask and determine which way they are rotating and for how long everyone is taking pulls on the front, ect. It is widely considered improper to just sit on the back enjoying the draft without taking turns on the front. The #1 safety issue in pacelines is caused by overlapping the rider's rear wheel that is directly ahead. If they weave to avoid a hazard, their rear wheel hits your front wheel and riders go down. If you ride with aerobars, never-ever use those aerobars while you have riders ahead in a group, unless you have the full aero setup with brake levers on the aerobars.

Please email or message me if you have any questions.

Stage 16 of the TMD Challenge is Tour DuPont.  The ride will start from Charlestown Middle School, 8804 High Jackson Road, Charlestown, IN 47111.  It is listed as ride #600 on Larry's website, www.kybikerides.org.  Not a difficult ride, but many of the hills will be in the last 25 miles of the ride.  Options for lunch, but my favorite is J & R Corner Store in DuPont near the RR tracks one block off HWY 3.  These folks have always been very good to us on previous century rides.  I called ahead and J & R is expecting us.  Excellent sandwiches at reasonable prices.  And there's another favorite of mine, Leroy's Grocery in Lexington at mile 79 for a hand dipped ice cream (yum yum) and other goodies.  Weather forecast has improved, looks like a very nice day.

Sunday’s Sink or Swim Century is Ride # 3027 on www.kybikerides.org

There is new parking signage at Westport Park. Now, only vehicles with boat trailers may use the main parking lot. Cars without trailers must use the parking on the right side, just before entering the main lot. If that side area fills up, then the “Overfill Lot” to the left  in the grass may also be used. However, if the grass must be used, enter the grass from the main boat trailer parking area. There are arrows on the pavement showing where to enter the grass.  Follow the new “official” signs which will point you in the right direction.

Because of the more limited parking, I am recommending that some of you carpool to the park.  Of course, those who like to ride their bikes to the park are always welcome too! (Jonathan, Thomas, Matt, Tony, and others!) However you arrive, you are all welcome. In any case, we will courteously share the space with other park users.

The parking lot is closed at Pope Lick Park.  Please park in the lot behind the Gas Station.  As you turn in to the park from Taylorsville Road, take the first left instead of going straight. You will see the lot on your left.

Margarita Century. TMD Stage 14 is Sunday, July 30, start time 7:00 am (wheels roll at 7:15am)

Clarification on the ride start location: Ride start is the overflow part of the Yellow Lot at 1437 River Road.

Challenging, hilly course with a few busy roads in the afternoon. From River Road, it goes to Tom Sawyer Park, takes the scenic route to Eminence and the "Pancake Ride" route back, adding Sleepy Hollow/Covered Bridge and then back via 42 and River Road.

This ride is http://kybikerides.org/ridemaps/4225.htm under ride start location "Yellow Lot" and Route called "Margarita Century" on RideWithGPS at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14320601 (thanks, Larry!).

Sadly, there is currently no Mexican restaurant with watered down margarita's nearby anymore.  We'll see what we can do to make up for that for those who hang in the back!

Call with questions.  RC: Carla Dearing m 502-417-0005
