MINUTES FROM THE GENERAL MEETING
LOUISVILLE BICYCLE CLUB
SEPTEMBER 20, 2009
The meeting was held at the Widow’s Walk Ice Cream store after the 2pm bike ride. The attendance was very low, due to rainy weather.
OKHT: Lynn Luking, OKHT chair, gave her report on the weekend. It was a very successful weekend, both in rider enjoyment & monetary. The number of sponsors & their donations were up this year. The final rider # was 1164.
ADVOCACY: Andy said the club has been approached to help with clean up of the Wheelmen’s’ Bench & the Louisville Loop.
EDUCATION: Tom said he passed out 4 certificates for the 2nd session of the Bike Ed class. He would like to find a way to keep people coming consistently to the classes. It was mentioned the year we gave away the bikes, more people came on a regular basis.
RACING: Mark said the first cycle cross race is coming up on Sunday Oct 3, at Fisherman’s’ Park in J-town, and the big race will be held again at Champions Park on Oct 25/26. Volunteers are needed for both events, as well as spectators. He said the team consists of 50 members, which is a good number.
TOURING: Kevin said the Tuesday night rides would continue thru October. The Wednesday & other night rides would be shortened.
