GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
LOUISVILLE BICYCLE CLUB
NOVEMBER 15TH, 2009

The meeting was held at Milestone Fitness after the 2pm bike ride. There were 17 people in attendance, including the executive committee.

ADVOCACY: Andy talked about the clean up at Wayside Park, where the Louisville Wheelman’s Bench is located. He also said the Official State marker is missing from there. He’s not sure if the State has taken it for repairs or if it has been stolen. Sarah Wolf, with the Olmstead Conservatory, is looking into this. Andy also said the LBC would be adopting a section of the Louisville Loop, from Camp Ground Rd to Bells Lane. He is working with Mike Slayton, Metro Parks Volunteer coordinator. Andy & John Cummings will take the lead on these projects.

EDUCATION: Tom said he is working on the Education Grant from Metro Louisville. If the club receives it, Tom would have to revamp the Ed program to meet their specifics. He would also like to involve more of the LCI (League Certified Instructors), and add a 3rd week of classes.

RACING: Tom said there are talks going on about possibly using Eva Bandman Park, on River Road, for Cycle Cross, since this might be the last year at Champions Park.

TOURING: Kevin said the trainer tours would start in December, back at Broadway Baptist Church.

TREASURER: Jim said right now we are doing well with money. We made a profit of approximately $16,000 on OKHT & he gave Lynn Luking, OKHT director, credit for this. Part of the money will fund the banquet, including the awards.

BANQUET: Earl said the banquet will be held at Masterson’s, on 3rd Street this year. The date is set for January 16th. There was no notice in the Nov/Dec newsletter.

MAD DOGS: Kirk Roggenkamp, the MD program director, said they had a good season. There were 46 qualifiers. The jerseys are being produced, for both the qualifiers & the champions. He has sponsors lined up for the 2010 season. He asked for time at the banquet to recognize the program.

ELECTIONS: There was no article in the Nov/Dec Newsletter announcing the upcoming Ex Comm elections. Dianna Decker is the Nominating Committee chair. It was decided to put a notice on the Kycyclist and on the Web Site. It was also suggested to send out an email with the notice to all the members who have email access.

NEW BUSINESS: Kirk asked about putting out information somewhere “in real time”. For instance, on the issue of the elections, if we had an “official” LBC site, postings could be made & members would know to go there for information. (The Kycyclist/List Serve is not an official LBC site.) He also asked about putting the minutes on the Web Site. Barbara said she thought David Ryan, Communication VP, was taking care of that, since we had discussed this issue months ago.

Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Tretter, Secretary
