3/7 TMD Stage CX, but SUNDAY 3/8 TMD stage is ON!

06 Mar 2015 7:35 PM | Kirk Roggenkamp, Cathy Hill

Saturday’s ride is canceled due to some ice still on roads, but I believe Sunday will be a go.  Repeat, NO century on 3/7, but plan on the stage going off as scheduled on Sunday 3/8.

Roads were 95% OK this afternoon, actually better than I expected.  However, it would be foolish to think ALL the ice will be gone EVERYWHERE 36 hours from now.  If you choose to ride Sunday, be prepared to assume the reasonable risks that go with riding a century in winter conditions.  Besides potential ice, there will thick cinders in a few spots.  Have some extra tubes, and if you don’t have some good touring grade tires (something like Conti Four Seasons or Gatorskins) tomorrow would be an excellent opportunity to go see your LBS and get yourself outfitted.

Also remember we have a time change Saturday night, so “spring forward” and be at the ride start before the sun comes up on Sunday.  (Official ride time is 7:45am, we’ll roll at 8:00am, as there should be plenty of daylight by then).  Sugarbush Farm was snow packed in the parking areas this evening, expect lots of mud by Sunday.  Pay attention to the ride briefing Sunday morning, as there will be a few changes to the cue sheet I was working from tonight.

Parking is in the Metro Surgery Center lot, 200 Missouri Ave.  Turn left on Court St just after crossing the bridge (you can use either the Kennedy or Clark coming from Louisville).  It’s just cady-corner from where parking is for Rocky’s and Buckheads behind the floodwall.
