May Overnight Ride

I have put an overnight ride on for the last week-end in May.  If you are interested, e-mail me and I will give you a link to the route and hotel information.  The route goes from Scottsburg to Montgomery, Indiana. Please note that it IS scheduled against a TMD so the turn out is likely to be small if anyone turns out at all.  Also, while I have done the course one time, I don't know the roads.  I can tell you that there is gravel, mostly toward the end of the first day and at the start of the second day.  I would speculate 10-15 per cent of the roads are gravel.  While I rode it last year on a road bike, I would suggest wider, sturdier tires for the sake of comfort.  I will also tell you that when I arrived last time, I was tired.

There are dogs on the route.  Last ride there was fresh chip and seal in one part. Stores may no longer be open and are not regularly spaced.  Roads are mostly low traffic. Scenery was nice.  On the last of the gravel, if it is dry, you might want a bandana.  Last year I used one like they do in the old cowboy movies to keep the dust out of my mouth and nose on the one busy, gravel section that goes through an Amish neighborhood.  It was only bad when a car came down the road, but it was dusty.

But I will tell you that I had fun and liked the route.

Since I will know if you are coming from your e-mail, I will also let you know if it is canceled for any reason.  Puddle
