Fat Forty. Douglas Loop (Dundee & Bardstown Rds.) scheduled for May 28th is cancelled so as not to conflict with the Mayor's ride

For those planning on riding tomorrow, please be sure you have plenty of water.  There are three store stops and a few other possibilities along the route, but it is going to be a scorcher and parts of the route will allow no respite from the sun.  Also, give yourself some extra travel time to the start as the speed on I-65 between Sellersburg and Henryville has temporarily been reduced to 55 mph.

That being said, I think it is a nice ride even though Christy no longer graces our lunch stop.  For those interested, Chris Quirey immortalized her via a photograph and MIGHT share if you ask nicely.  Lunch is in Vernon, a city that caused the well loved agnostic/atheist, Pustow, to drop his jaw and pronounce, "Somebody's going to hell!" during a Halloween visit.

    See ya tomorrow!  Puddle

Due to wet roads and continued rain today's Sunday Heine 2:00 Ride is cancelled.  Eric Sellers/RC

    Dear all,

I just wanted to clarify that Sunday's ride will begin at the usual 2:00 Sunday ride start, at the office building parking lot on Staebler, NEAR Heine Brothers on Chenoweth/Breckinridge.  Please note that it will be a 15-mile ride with a cue sheet for you to follow.  So for those of you who have the 2:00 Heine brothers ride route memorized, it may be a little challenging to your brain (and eyes) to follow a cue sheet.  I had to make the type fairly small to get it to fit on one page, so bring your reading glasses!  It is not an extremely original route.....it has the elements of several rides.

I would rate the route a 2 for most LBC riders, and a 2+ or 3 for newbies.  While not flat, there aren't TOO many hills....but there are a few hilly spots for newbies (i.e., Denham, Beargrass, Grinstead/Stiltz).

If you're wanting to do a fast-paced, challenging ride, this may not be the ride for you.  This will be for those who want a nice little Sunday ride, yet it may be challenging for any new riders, or slow-pokes (like me).

I'm hoping to encourage new riders to join us, and I'm hoping those who ride will be laid back, ride safely, and enjoy helping newer riders.  I'll be sweeping at the back and ride as slow as the slowest rider(s) (probably me).

Where ever you ride, ride safely!

    Connie

Upon rechecking the route for this Sunday's Populaire, I discovered one of the bridges is now out (the 44' one-lane bridge is being replaced by a 324' monstrosity). This required a reroute.

There is now approximately 1/2 mile of well-packed gravel road in each direction.

    You have been warned.

Due to a scheduling snafu, the Yellow lot Iriquois special, slow + easy ride did not get on the schedule for May.  The rides WILL happen from the yellow lot, at the usual time - 9:00, however no club mileage credit will be given.  These rides will be show + go. If you want credit for your Saturday morning ride, I suggest Vickie Dobbs ride out of Thurman-Hutchins Park.
