    Dear cyclists,

I'm captain for Friday 10:30 am ride (Dec 16) at the Sawyer-Hayes lot.  However, I've got a sore throat and am working on a cold, and I am not planning on riding.  I believe it is supposed to be cloudy and cold, around 36-40 degrees (to feel like 32 - 36 degrees).  I am planning on showing up at the ride, to sign folks up, but I will not be sweeping the ride.  So if you decide to ride, please be prepared to ride without a sweeper, or possibly alone.  (My cell phone is 608-7758 if anyone needs help on the ride - - they can give me a call.)

Next Saturday is the traditional Bethlehem Century. While it is too soon to predict the weather with any certainty, the current prediction calls for sun though colder temperatures.

This year may be the last for mailing your Christmas Cards from Bethlehem due to proposed postal office closings. To the best of my knowledge, the post office currently is open.

For the first time, there is a 60/65 mile option. Only the century will be swept unless someone volunteers to sweep the shorter route, however, the shorter route will pass through Bethlehem and stay with the century route through the climb out of Bethlehem. Hope to see everyone. Puddle

I have received a call or two asking what route we are taking tomorrow.  Having polled the breakfast group, I was unable to get an agreement between those I know are planning on riding.   I have, therefore,  made an executive decision; we will be riding the traditional route:  Campbellsburg, Puddle Century 5500 on www.kybikerides.org.  There are two climbs, one that is very well known for being painful.  The rest of the ride is pretty much rolling. There are a total of three stops:  The Red Barn Bait Shop, The Dutch Barn, and The Cheddar Depot.  I have no desire to push the pace, and assuming we have the nice weather that is predicated  all I ask is that you be able to ride quickly enough to get in by dark.

Please be aware that this route was put together before I had a GPS.  In  fact, I did not even have a map.  Mileage, therefore, will sometimes be a bit off from the GPS as it was calculated with my cycling odometer.  If you are anal or plan to head off the front, feel free to program the map in your GPS or plot it out on Map My Ride.

For those of you not attending the breakfast, don't look for me to be out in the parking lot until a tad after 8:00 a.m. as that is when I will kick the breakfast crew out of the house into the cold.  Feel free to come and knock on the door and have a cup of coffee even if you aren't coming for breakfast. There is still a bit of room at the table if you want to come for breakfast, but I do like to know ahead of time so I can be prepared.  This is not a paper plate affair.

Mine is the stone house immediately west of the fire house.  Doors open at 7:00 a.m.  The ride will take off at 8:15 a.m.  (8:00 a.m. is the ride start on the schedule).  Wind is predicted out of the South at about 10 mph.  Normally this is a reasonably slow paced ride where everyone stays together.  I do like to get in by dark, though that has not always happened.

Lastly, be aware that there is road construction and reduced speed limit for part of the ride up to Scottsburg.  Hope to see everyone tomorrow!  Puddle

Today's ride is cancelled due to rain.  I will not be at the start to tell people it's raining.  Sorry.
