Stage 1 - 2019 Tour de Mad Dog

Route Change due to flooding in Southern Indiana the route has been changed to the well worn Honest Abe Century route.

Stating location is K-Mart on the corner of New Cut Road and Outer Loop. Start time is 7:30 AM which means that wheels will roll at 7:45 AM. Cue sheets will be available and this ride will be swept. This is an easy out and back route with very few hills and plenty of store stops along the way to New Haven and on to Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood Home then return to Louisville.

Please be prepared - ensure your bike is in good working order, carry spare tubes, tools to change a flat tire, two CO2 cartridges and/or a hand pump, day time blinkey lights, I learned a long time ago to carry a spare folding tire. if you have any doubts make sure you have the Uber app loaded on your phone.

Weather looks clear - near 40 for the start getting up to around 50 degrees, winds look to be mild - but hey it is Kentucky and the weather can turn on a dime.

    Store stops:

Bullitt County Supermarket - mile 21 and 78.5

Pilot Travel center - mile 28.8 and 70.8

Boston Food Market - mile 33 and 67

BP in New Haven - mile 45 and 54

Subway in New Haven mile 45.7 and 53.9

No one should be hungry after all of that, my strategy for store stops will be Pilot at mile 28.8, lunch at Subway mile 53.9 and Bullitt County Supermarket at mile 78.5.

There is sometimes flooding on old Nelsonville Road - there is a very easy route around by staying on Hwy 62 and then continue on the route. I will explain this at the ride start.

Because a significant portion of the new Indiana paved trail is underwater and will be so Wednesday the ride is canceled.  Because of this flood issue I will replace it with another ride.  I will put Looney Lanesville back on the schedule sometime in March.
