Kentucky Derby Festival PNC Tour de Lou

Get Ready to Roll! The Kentucky Derby Festival is once again partnering with the Louisville Bicycle Club to produce the PNC Tour de Lou on Sunday, April 12.

Participants will have the opportunity to bike in-person, as well as the option to participate virtually. The 13th annual PNC Tour de Lou is a unique way to explore Louisville on two wheels while passing through some of the city’s scenic parks, neighborhoods and historic sites with cyclists from all across the country. (Full course and route details will be released soon).

New for the 2026 Ride:

  • The Start and Finish Line is moving to the Big Four Lawn, adjacent to the Big Four Bridge.
  • A new 12-mile route option has been added, offering the ideal introduction to the Derby Festival’s annual cycling experience for beginners and first-time riders.
  • The former 20-mile route has been expanded to 25 miles to allow riders of varying distances to stay together longer and enhance the overall ride experience

Distance Options

As always, the Festival’s annual cycling event is for riders of all levels of experience, with four separate cycling distances:

  • 62.1 Miles (Metric Century) – Ideal for advanced riders or those looking for a challenge: 8 AM
  • 35 Miles – Ideal for moderate/experienced riders: 8:15 AM
  • 25 Miles – Ideal for beginners to intermediate: 8:30 AM
  • NEW: 12 Miles – Ideal for beginners or those new to cycling: 9:00 AM
  • Virtual Ride – 12, 25, 35, and Metric Century Options (Find more info here!)

Ride Details

Participants will enjoy spectacular city views and expert support throughout the ride. All cycling distances will be an open course, following rules of the road, with no streets closed. Trained Support and Gear (SAG) crews, law enforcement and medical professionals will be on hand. (

Post Ride Party
All participants can celebrate after the ride at the Post Ride Party!

Cyclists can enjoy live entertainment and a sweet treat while they cheer on cyclists to the Finish Line. Plus, riders (ages 21 and older) will enjoy a post-ride beverage.

The 11th annual PNC Tour de Lou is a unique way to explore Louisville on two wheels while passing through some of the city’s scenic parks, neighborhoods and historic sites, including Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby), with cyclists from all across the country.

Location: 226 N Floyd St, Louisville, KY 40202 at the corner of N. Floyd and E Witherspoon

As always, the Festival’s annual bike event is for riders of all levels of experience, with separate distances and ride options:

  • 62.1 Mile: Metric Century / Advanced Ride (Open course)

  • 35-Mile: Experienced Ride / Intermediate Ride (Open course)

  • 20-Mile: Ride / New to cycling (Open course)

  • Virtual Ride 20, 35, and Metric Century Options (Find more info here!)

Starting times are staggered based on distance: Metric Century – 8 a.m., 35-mile ride – 8:15 a.m., 20-mile ride – 8:30 a.m., Family Adventure Ride – 9:30 a.m.

A virtual alternative is also available for those who prefer to log their miles on their own. Riders who participate in the virtual option can still choose to complete the 20-, 35- or 62.1-mile distance. Participants can ride at their own pace – and even their own route – over multiple days.

All participants in the 2024 PNC Tour de Lou will receive a ride shirt, swag bag, and an invitation to the post-ride party to celebrate.

Tour de Lou Training Program

Register for the Free Training Program

The PNC Kentucky Derby Festival Tour de Lou Training Program is a FREE 6-week program designed for bicyclists of all experience levels. The training program will feature weekly group bike rides led by the Louisville Bicycle Club. 

Training tips and bike safety will also be provided. Be one of the first 250 to register for the Training Program and receive a FREE training shirt. 

The training rides will take place at noon on Sundays starting February 22 through March 29. The first ride will be 10 miles. Training distance will increase by 5 miles every few weeks.

All rides will begin at the Waterfront Park Yellow Lot – 1401 River Road

Training Schedule: All Rides start at Noon on Sunday. All participants need to bring their bike and helmet. 

  • Week #1: 10-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, February 22
  • Week #2: 15-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 1
  • Week #3: 15-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 8
  • Week #4: 20-Mile Training Ride – Sunday March 15
  • Week #5: 20-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 22
  • Week #6: 25-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 29
