Start Location: Natural Bridge State Resort Park, 2135 Natural Bridge Rd, Slade, KY 40376, USA

    Parking/Start Location Directions:
    Google Maps Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fx2RnwhtUrWLqHDk6
    Manual Directions:
Take I-64 East (about 80 miles from Louisville)
Exit 98 for Bert T Combs Mountain Parkway (32.3 miles)
    Exit 33 Slade/Beattyville and Right turn KY-11 S (2 miles)
Right turn at sign that says LODGE DINNING and SKYLIFT (184 ft)
Right turn at sign that says SKYLIFT and PICNIC AREA (0.6 miles)
    Bike Ride (10:00 AM ET)
Natural Bridge State Park is well known for stunning fall views and iconic sandstone arches. First we will ride up to Nada Tunnel (mile 6.5). Then we will climb what is often referred to as "The Wall", which has about an average 10% grade for about half a mile (mile 17). To give you reference this climb is shorter than the Polly's Freeze climb but about twice as steep. It is rated a category 4 climb, so it is not easy but it's not impossible. There is no shame in walking it up if you have to. Don't let the climb discourage you. Once at the top of the climb we will take a break to take in the sights and stunning views of the Sky Bridge. We will stop again at The Brick for ice cream and coffee (mile 22.5). Finally we will return back to the start.
    Lunch (1:00 PM ET)
If you did not pack a lunch and plan to buy (not included with event):
Proceed to the Sandstone Arches Restaurant at Hemlock Lodge (https://parks.ky.gov/.../natural-bridge-state-resort-park...) next to the hiking trailhead to buy lunch.
(Alternative) - Ride to Miguel's down the road for food (https://miguelspizza.com/).
(Alternative) - Ride to La Cabana down the road for food (https://www.lacabanaofslade.com/).
If you packed your lunch in a cooler ahead of time (not included with event):
Return to vehicles to have lunch at the picnic tables.
At this time change out of your cycling gear and into your walking/hiking gear. The trail features man made stair cases which makes it possible to hike without any special gear. I will just be wearing plain old tennis shoes. Some people might bring hiking poles but this is really unnecessary for this trail.
    Hike (2:00 PM ET)
The start of the hike is exactly 1.1 miles from the parking location. You can walk from there, but most people will caravan/drive that 1.1 miles to the trail head start. From the parking location just follow Hemlock Lodge Rd until you arrive at the lodge and trailhead parking lot. The hike is 2 miles long and it has just under 500 ft of elevation.

(Optional) Lodging and Camping Information: https://parks.ky.gov/.../natural-bridge-state-resort-park...
Most people do not stay overnight. They just drive down for the ride/hike and leave directly after. I will be at Whittleton Campground in Slot A024 Tuesday night and Wednesday night (2135 Natural Bridge Rd, Slade, KY 40376). My slot is 35 feet long and all gravel with electric. I'll only be using about 20 feet for my truck tent. We can easily fit a couple tents in the space if anyone is interested. First come, first serve. You can also reserve your own slot at any of the three campgrounds. There are multiple lodging options in and around the park. If you plan to lodge you should make arrangements soon because this is a very popular time of year for the park.

    Crawdaddy's LBC Christmas Giving Ride
Saturday, December 6, 2025 · Ride rolls out at 12:00 PM
Starting from: Middle of Town Cycling (2140 Gardiner Ln, Louisville, KY 40205)

Join us for the fourth annual Crawdaddy's LBC Christmas Giving Ride on Saturday, December 6th at noon! This festive holiday tradition, which began in 2022, is hosted by the Louisville Bicycle Club in honor of its founder, Michael “Crawdaddy” Crawford. Together, we’ll spread joy, raise funds, and embrace the holiday magic!

Our club has a long history of making Louisville a healthier, happier, and more bicycle-friendly community. This year, we’re proud to once again partner with the Cabbage Patch Settlement House, a local nonprofit founded in 1910 that helps at-risk children and families achieve greater self-sufficiency through a variety of life-changing programs. Every December, their “Christmas Partner Program” provides food, clothing, and gifts to families in need—and we’re here to help.

We’re asking club members and supporters to join us in making the season brighter for local families. Donations can be made directly to the Louisville Bicycle Club or by check, and all proceeds will support the Cabbage Patch’s Christmas Partner Program.

To kick things off, the club is donating $500 to the cause. Thank you for helping us make a difference this December!

    • Saturday, August 29, 2026
    • 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
    • Yellow Lot at Waterfront Park, 1401 River Rd, Louisville, KY 40206, USA

Ride: Barb Martin's Polly's Freeze Ride - Bike to Beat Cancer Training Ride

    Ride Distance: 28-miles

    Ride Terrain & Pace: 12 - 14 MPH Average

    Elevation Gain: 1,235

    Surface Type: Road

Starting Location: Yellow Lot at Waterfront Park, 1401 River Rd, Louisville, KY 40206, USA

    Route Description:

Polly’s Freeze Ride – Two Traditions in One!

This year we’re combining two great cycling traditions into one ride. Each summer, Barb Martin leads her beloved Polly’s Freeze Ride, while Bike to Beat Cancer hosts a training ride that makes the same climb. In 2025, the Louisville Bicycle Club is proud to add an additional Bike to Beat Cancer training ride and take it up to Polly’s Freeze together.

    Route Details:

We’ll roll out from the Yellow Lot at Waterfront Park, then head across the Big Four Bridge into Indiana. From there, we’ll follow the scenic Ohio River Greenway all the way to Corydon Pike, where the real challenge begins with the climb up to Polly’s Freeze.

After enjoying a well-earned stop for cold treats, it’s time to descend. We'll head back down Corydon Pike, dropping into New Albany, reconnecting with the Ohio River Greenway, and crossing back over the Big Four Bridge into Louisville, returning the same way we came.

This ride blends tradition, community, and a sweet reward at the top. Come ready for a climb, a cone, and great company! 🚴‍♀️🍦

    • Saturday, September 12, 2026
    • 7:15 AM - 7:00 PM
    • Norton Cancer Institute - Brownsboro - 4955 Norton Healthcare Blvd, Louisville, KY 40241

This is a charity ride that has a minimum fundraiser of $400.

Make sure you join our Louisville Bicycle Club Bike to Beat Cancer team HERE so we can show support for this great cause.

    Route Distance: 15, 35, or 65 miles

Starting Location:  Norton Cancer Institute - Brownsboro - 4955 Norton Healthcare Blvd, Louisville, KY 40241

    Route Description:

Choose from 15, 35, 65 or 100 miles! We have an option to fit your activity level. To help you choose, think about it this way: A leisurely bike ride is about 10-15 miles per hour. Could you ride for one hour? Two hours? Three hours? More?

Keep in mind that relief is only 15 miles away. Our pit stops are spaced about 15 miles apart, where you can park, stretch your legs, use the restroom and get something to eat or drink.

Finally, remember you should enjoy yourself — but challenge yourself. You are doing this for those who cannot. You are taking on the challenge in solidarity with those who are fighting the biggest fight of their lives.

    Choose your distance

Never cycled before? We recommend the 5-mile or 15-mile option.

Cycled some, but it’s been a while? Try the 15- or 35-mile option. These are great distances for active beginners to novice riders.

Frequent cycler? The 65-mile ride is for you. This longer distance can be rewarding for people who cycle regularly or enjoy fitness.

Registration Fee: 5-mile rider registration is $10. 5-, 15-, 35-, & 65-mile rider registration is $50. Cancer survivors ride for free. Click here for more details on the minimum fundraising requirements.
