Kentucky Derby Festival PNC Tour de Lou

The Kentucky Derby Festival is once again partnering with the Louisville Bicycle Club to produce the PNC Tour de Lou on Sunday, April 14.

Participants will have the opportunity to bike in-person on this open course, as well as the option to participate virtually. The PNC Tour de Lou is a unique way to explore Louisville on two wheels while passing through some of the city’s scenic parks, neighborhoods and historic sites, including Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby), with cyclists from all across the country.

Location: 810 E Main St, Louisville, KY 40206

As always, the Festival’s annual bike event is for riders of all levels of experience, with separate distances and ride options:

  • 62.1 Mile (8:00 AM): Metric Century / Advanced Ride (Open course)

  • 35-Mile (8:15 AM): Experienced Ride / Intermediate Ride (Open course)

  • 20-Mile (8:30 AM): Ride / New to cycling (Open course)

  • Virtual Ride 20, 35, and Metric Century Options (Find more info here!)

All participants in the 2024 PNC Tour de Lou will receive a ride shirt, swag bag, and an invitation to the post-ride party to celebrate.

The 11th annual PNC Tour de Lou is a unique way to explore Louisville on two wheels while passing through some of the city’s scenic parks, neighborhoods and historic sites, including Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby), with cyclists from all across the country.

Location: 226 N Floyd St, Louisville, KY 40202 at the corner of N. Floyd and E Witherspoon

As always, the Festival’s annual bike event is for riders of all levels of experience, with separate distances and ride options:

  • 62.1 Mile: Metric Century / Advanced Ride (Open course)

  • 35-Mile: Experienced Ride / Intermediate Ride (Open course)

Starting times are staggered based on distance: Metric Century – 8 a.m., 35-mile ride – 8:15 a.m., 20-mile ride – 8:30 a.m., Family Adventure Ride – 9:30 a.m.

A virtual alternative is also available for those who prefer to log their miles on their own. Riders who participate in the virtual option can still choose to complete the 20-, 35- or 62.1-mile distance. Participants can ride at their own pace – and even their own route – over multiple days.

It’s time to condition for your cycling mission! The Kentucky Derby Festival and PNC are gearing up for the annual training program for the 2024 PNC Tour de Lou. Want to ride faster or go further on your bicycle? The Kentucky Derby Festival, PNC, and the Louisville Bicycle Club can help you reach your goals with this six-week training program or bicyclists at all experience levels.

Registration for the FREE PNC Tour de Lou Training Program is now open!

The six-week training program includes free group rides led by the experts of the Louisville Bicycle Club. Training tips, like hand signals and rules of the road, as well as nutritional information, will also be shared. Plus, the first 250 to register will receive a free training shirt.

The training rides will take place at Noon on Sundays starting February 25th and go through Sunday, April 7th. All rides will meet Yellow Lot at Waterfront Park - 1401 River Rd, Louisville, KY 40206

  • The first ride will be 5 miles and begin with a Cycling 101 for all riders

  • All participants need to bring their bike and helmet.

All rides will be led by experienced Ride Captains from our partner Louisville Bike Club

Training Schedule: All Rides start at Noon on Sunday

  • Week #1: 10-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, February 25th

  • Week #2: 15-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 3rd

  • Week #3: 15-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 10th

  • Week #4: 20-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 17th

  • Week #5: 20-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, March 24th

  • Week #6: 25-Mile Training Ride – Sunday, April 7th
